JOB DESCRIPTION


Title:  Senior Manager, Food
Location:  Beijing
Reports to:  Practice Head, Food 
Jointly Lead:  Project or programme and team relevant to Food Practices


I. Mission of the position: 


The position holder will play a key role in scoping and engaging target stakeholders in China for sustainability on food, providing joint strategic leadership, representing WWF externally, and jointly managing team members and resources in the Practice. The person will jointly contribute to ensure the coherence and synergy of the Conversation Program as well as to support the mission of WWF China and the Network.  Lead in the teambuilding for Food Practice, including recruitment and capacity building. A crucial element of the job is the promotion and emphasis on innovation in order to sustain food systems to conserve nature while ensuring food security now and in the future


II. Main Responsibilities:


Strategic direction – Support the Head of Food Practice at WWF China for successful scoping and development of the strategy in Food Practice, and develop WWF China’s Food Practice Strategy, through working with other relevant Practices.
Thought and content leadership - Lead to form the position paper for WWF China on food sustainability. This includes to lead the collection, analysis, coordination, production and dissemination of communication documentations on food safety and nutrition efficiency for WWF China. The position paper is to be used for engaging consumers and other relevant stakeholders for smart consumption and responsible production within one healthy planet agenda, especially on priority commodities including but not limited to seafood, soy, and palm oil, especially:
•Programme profiles, Q and As, issue papers, achievement highlights and briefs
•Regularly programme news or information updates and for WWF connect 
•And other documents as appropriate
Team leadership - Lead in the teambuilding for Food Practice, including recruitment and capacity building.  
Keeps abreast of trends and developments in food area.
Engage targeted actors and sectors include, but not limited to, consumers, public and private sectors for conservation or sustainable food consumption and production.
Liaise with WWF Network Food Practice and WWF China domestic fund raising team to prepare fund raising strategy for the Food Practice.
External relationship building – Foster close relationships with key players within business, governments, international organizations, NGOs, institutions, foundations and communities 
Internal relationship building – Jointly engage with other Practice Heads, the Management Team, functional heads in WWF China, as well as the Global Practice Community, and with other relevant conservation and operations staffs in the WWF Network. 
Strengthens the project communications and potential interaction with media.
Perform other tasks as requested by line managers and department directors.


III. Profile: Required Skills and Competencies:
Qualified candidates for this position will need to demonstrate the following critical competences:

IV. Qualifications: 
University degree in Environmental/ Conservation science; 
Master degree in food area is preferred.


At least 8 years experiences in related area, 2-3 years in research, managerial or communication role is preferred.


Further qualifications in environmental affairs and/or business 
management would be an advantage; 
Proven track record of managing internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive change; 
Proven track record of effective learning;
Fluent Chinese and English.
