Director of Public Engagement
Major Function:
As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director of Public Engagement supports WWF China CEO by leading the Public Engagement team to fulfil the Mission and Objectives of WWF International and WWF China.

The Director of Public Engagement is responsible for leading the planning and implementation of strategic objectives for public engagement. The position holder will develop and implement effective public engagement activities that aim at raising public awareness as well as their motivation and ability to act for a sustainable and equitable China. He or she will be responsible for managing the communications, digital and social media, branding, campaigns, public education and individual fundraising portfolio and capacity of WWF China. 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
•Develops and implements a long-term Public Engagement strategy to deliver on the goals and objectives of the organizational strategic plan; 
•Develops and implements effective and innovative communications strategies in consultation with conservation teams to deliver conservation outcomes strategies, increase public awareness and their motivation and ability to act; 
•Develops and implements effective and innovative campaigns to support the conservation objectives and public engagement objectives of WWF China; 
•Develops and implements effective and innovative public education program to support the conservation objectives and public engagement objectives of WWF China;
Constructs solid fundamental and develops related capacity together with partners for individual fundraising;
Contribute to fundraising by working closely with the Partnership Director and Program Directors;
Engages within the WWF Network to ensure the best practices and knowledge accumulated in the public engagement programs are shared and learning opportunities are leveraged; 
Build and lead a high-performance team to deliver the Public Engagement objectives; 
Making tailored capacity building plans for team members to facilitate career development.
Foster cohesion and integration in the team for a productive working relationship and atmosphere.

Developing annual budget plan for Public Engagement team, planning the use of resources and allocating them among designed activities.  Ensuring that all activities stick to the budget.
Required Competencies: 
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in management positions relevant to this position; 
University degree in, public relations, conservation related, communications, marketing or related fields were preferred; 
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English; 
Strong leadership, people & interpersonal management, collaboration relationship-building skills; 
Able to think both strategically and innovatively, and translate ideas into delivery of results; 
Excellent inter-personal skills, including ability to transfer skills, supervise and network; 
Self-motivated and innovative; be able to work under pressure with a team of people and meet deadlines; 
Good current understanding of nature conservation issues and strategies; understanding of WWF’s work in China and globally. 
Working experience of NGO preferred.
