Job Description


Position title: Head, Organizational Development (OD)
Directly reports to: Director, Strategic Management 
Location: Beijing


Background:
Based on the conversations between WWF UK and WWF China on organisational change experience, the recommendation is that WWF China increases its capacity in key areas of OD and change management. It was suggested to engage a full time implementation and communications role to deliver the OD management and communications functions through another full time support role. This particular role reports directly to the Director, Strategic Management,  and work closely with the COO and the  Leadership Team Members to ensure a solid OD foundation in place to support the organizational transition and change process to become a local NGO , establish effective communications and to help with successful delivery of WWF China Strategy 2020 2.0.
Major Responsibilities: 


The primary purpose of this role is to work closely with the Strategic Management Director to design and manage the organizational transition and change plan, process and ensure its effective delivery.
Design and manage the implementation of the OD Strategy, work plan, a detailed organizational transition and change plan, and “work packages” with the appropriate managers and change core team.


Design the appropriate Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning process for the Transition and Change process 


Supports and coaches managers and change champions as appropriate.


Ensure accountability reporting processes including financial and technical reporting are in place for the China LT and the wider WWF Network.


Work closely with the Strategic Management Director and the LT to develop the engagement plan for communicating the transition and change design and change management process. The engagement plan includes points for communicating with senior leaders, managers, people who are affected by change in different ways, and ensure it is robust to get staff’s buy in and ownership of the change process. 


Develop clear messages linking the rationale/reason for the transition and change, the value of staff and how colleagues will be enabled to deliver the Strategy 2020 2.0. 


Regularly monitor the transition and change process progress and outcomes based on the Transition and Change work plan and overall OD Strategy. 


Develop and facilitate surveys, informal interviews to assess the “temperature” of the organisation throughout the transition and change process, ensuring adaptive management.   


Identify and support to fill in capacity gaps and needs to enable effectively deliver the Strategy 2020. 2.0.


Ensure frequent communications with the LT/MT on transition and change progress, raise issues to the LT/MT in a timely manner in order to effectively resolve issues. 


Maintain regular communication with the Network OD specialists, WWF UK and other relevant offices, updating on WWF China OD work, transition and change process, and share knowledge, lessons learned proactively. 


Explore external OD related opportunities and seek to build learning and sharing platforms among the NGO peers and/or partners, to leverage and accelerate WWF China’s strategic ambition as a powerful and influential local organization. 


Requirements: 
Master or relevant degree in related area (MBA, international business, environment science or development) is preferred.
At least (5) years’ experience as a manager – including OD design, implementation and accountability functions
Experience of managing internal transition and change programmes
Experience in designing and managing internal and external communications processes
Exceptional communication skills and experience of working with staff, the leadership teams. 
Prior experience of working in large multi-culture, function organizations.
